Soft soil and compacted ground ask different things of a digging tool. The Rhino USA Survival Shovel with Pick - Military Style Entrenching Tool adds a pick to the shovel format, giving you another working surface to consider.

Inspect Both Working Positions

I would look closely at how the pick is positioned and secured, especially if changing functions alters the assembled tool. The useful comparison is how each configuration feels, not simply whether both names appear in the listing.

Main tool: Entrenching shovel.
Second option: Pick.
Intended scale: Compact equipment rather than a long-handled yard tool.

The Ground Still Sets the Work

A pick does not guarantee that a short shovel will make every rocky site manageable. Connection strength, reach, and the time spent working remain part of the choice.

For a quick campsite task, compact storage may earn its place. For repeated landscaping, a full-size digging tool will generally be the more comfortable comparison.

Storage should account for the pick as well as the shovel blade. I would check whether the supplied arrangement covers both working surfaces and keeps them from rubbing against the vehicle interior. A compact digging tool can be useful, but only if its normal traveling configuration is secure and convenient enough that you actually keep it with the equipment.

Leave Space for Cleanup

Digging equipment gets dirty in a way a pocket screwdriver does not. I would make cleaning and drying part of putting it away rather than returning mud to the rest of the load.

This Rhino USA makes sense to compare when both shovel and pick solve likely jobs. I would choose it for that combination instead of treating “military style” as a specification for performance.
